General
Appearance:
The bulldog has a coat short and smooth.
It is a small, stocky animal with broad shoulders and powerful limbs.
It has a relatively large head in comparison to the size of its body.
The bulldog has a short, broad snout that rises upward. The trunk is short
with a sturdy structure. The hindquarters are long in length and considered
to be moderaterly strong- a little lighter than the more powerful front.
A female bulldog is smaller and less stout than a male bulldog.
Characteristics:
The statute of the bulldog will suggest determination, strength, and activity.
Tempermant:
The bulldog is clever, couragous, and trusting- it has the aspect of being
feroucious but its nature is to be affectionate.
Head
and Cranium:
The extensive perimeter of the cranium (in front of the eyes) should measure
at least the height of the animal at the shoulders. |

• Viewing from the front: The head appears very high
from the corner of the jaw to the top of the cranium.
• Viewing the profile:
The head appears very high and short from the occiput to the tip of the
nose. The brow is flat with loose, wrinkled skin, neither are too profound
that they envelop the face.

Nostrils:
The nostrils of the bulldog are very developed, with a well defined line
between them. They are wide and black, never the color of liver, red, or
brown.

Jaw:
The jaws of the bulldog are massive, extremely broad, and square. The lower
jaw resting well in front of the upper jaw and turning upward.

Eyes:
The eyes of the bulldog are seated low in the skull of the animal - far
away from the ears. Situated in the front of the head, the eyes are round
and medium in size. The color is very dark, they eyelids cover the white
of the eyes when the animal is looking forward.

Ears:
The ears of the bulldog are placed on the top of the head, the front edge
of each ear joins the outline of the skull at the top back corner of the
cranium. Placed wide apart and far away from the eyes. The ears are small
and thin in size.

Mouth:
The chops of the bulldog are thick, broad, and deep. They overhang the lower
jaw on each side. They accompany the underlip in the front and almost cover
the teeth. The teeth are larege and strong, with the canine teeth wide apart.
There are 6 small teeth in front between the canines in an even row.

Neck:
The neck of the bulldog is short, thick, and strong. It is well arched at
the back.
•
Trunk:
The body of the bulldog has full sides, rounded ribs that are deep from
the shoulders until the lowest part of the body, where is connects with
the chest. The chest is full and extremely robust. The body of the animal
is ribbed with a tucked up belly. The animal has a vey short and strong
back which is wide at the shoulders and narrow at the loins.

Limbs: |

Forequarters:
The forequarters or shoulders of the bulldog are muscular, very sturdy,
robust and slant outward. The forelegs are short, stout, straight, and strong,
located widely apart which gives a bow-legged look. The elbows are low and
remain separate from the ribs and loose from the body.

Hindquarters:
The hindquarters of a bulldog are strong and muscular, they are also longer
than the forelegs- this elevates the loins above the shoulders. The lower
part of the leg is straight, short, strong, and turned partially away from
the body. The knees are rounded with a discreet outward bend.

Paws:
The front paws of the bulldog are straight and discreetly turned outward;
they are medium in size and moderately round. The toes are compact, with
high knuckles and short nails. The back paws are almost equal to the front-
but well turned outward.
Tail:
The tail of a bulldog can be either straight or “screwed”
- not curvy or curved. It is short and hung low, it is thick and ends
with a fine tip. If straight, the tail ought to be cylindrical. If screwed,
the bends will be well defined- no part of the tail should rise above
the base (point of connection to the body).
Motion:
The walking motion of the bulldog is particularly heavy and locked. The
animal seems to have a shuffling, sideways motion in its walk.
Coat:
The coat of the bulldog is straight, short, and smooth. The coat has no
feather or curl to the fur. The skin is loose and soft, especially near
the shoulders, neck, and head.
Color:
The color of the bulldog should be in uniform- pure and brillant. All
the colors of coat include; 1. red brindle, 2. all other brindles, 3.
solid white, 4. solid red, 5. piebald.
Weight:
A mature male bulldog weighs approximately 50 lbs.; and a female approximately
40 lbs.
Absences:
In terms of this breed, what ever the diversion, you should know it is
considered a penalty and will be graded on the seriousness of the issue.
(example; a nose color other than black).
Note:
Males should present 2 testicles that appear normal, very developed and
accompanied by the scrotum.
